    Trailblazer The Angelo Washington Story

    • Series Page

DeAngelo Washington always believed baseball would be his ticket out of poverty. He found a sense of purpose in the sport and saw it as a way to rise above his circumstances. But after a life-changing injury, DeAngelo found himself at a crossroads, unsure of what the future held.

In an unexpected turn, DeAngelo discovered the world of mountain biking—a sport far removed from the streets he grew up on. Drawn to the thrill and freedom of racing downhill at breakneck speeds, he threw himself into this new passion. But the path wasn’t easy. He faced criticism and doubt from his own community,

Determined to prove that success could be found in unexpected places, he trained relentlessly to become one of the fastest downhill racers alive, showing that mountain biking could be a viable path no matter where you come from or what challenges you face.

Trailblazer originally premiered in Freehub PRESENTS, a film festival dedicated to mountain biking, storytelling, and community.

Read more about DeAngelo in the Issue 13.2 article, "Destined for Greatness."
