Coming Home Alex Showerman
What does it mean to return home unapologetically as yourself? “Coming Home” follows Alex Showerman, a lifelong Vermonter who spent her adult years in Waterbury mountain biking, trailbuilding, and advocating for her local trails. In 2020, she came out as a queer, trans woman, which led her west to pursue a full-time career as a freeride mountain biker. But every time she returns to her roots in Vermont, she reconnects with the Green Mountain State through fresh eyes, finding a new appreciation for the place that shaped her.
In August of 2024, Alex returned home for another visit, but this time, with friends Brooklyn Bell and Hannah Bergemann in tow. Brooklyn and Hannah are two staples of the Pacific Northwest riding scene and have been mentors and sources of inspiration to Alex. "Coming Home" tells the story of an underrepresented athlete’s journey to make their mark in action sports and the world, while discovering the joy of finding their true community along the way.
